Is your charging cable stuck?

It can be frustrating when your charging cable won’t release from the station, but don't worry—this is usually easy to fix with a few simple steps.

As a provider, EasyPark facilitates the payment, but we do not have remote control over the physical hardware of the charging station. Here is how you can get your cable back.

Quick Troubleshooting Steps

Try these steps in order to release the locking mechanism:

  • Check the app: Most stations automatically unlock the cable only after the session has ended. Open your EasyPark app and ensure you have officially stopped the charging session.

  • Unlock your vehicle: Many cars lock the cable in place for safety while the car itself is locked. Use your key fob to unlock the car, which often triggers the station to release the cable.

  • The "Double-Plug" trick: Sometimes the lock gets stuck under tension. Try pushing the cable firmly into the station for a second, then immediately pull it out.

  • Wait a moment: Some hardware requires a 10–30 second "cool down" period after the session ends before it releases the mechanical lock.

What to do if it’s still stuck

If the cable remains locked after trying the steps above, you will need to contact the Charging Point Operator (CPO) directly.

  • Look for contact info: The phone number for the operator is almost always located on a sticker directly on the charging station.

  • Why contact them? Only the operator who owns the hardware has the ability to remotely reset the station or manually release the lock.

Pro Tip for Next Time

Before you start charging, always make sure the cable is plugged in all the way. This prevents the lock from catching at a weird angle, which is the most common cause of a stuck cable!
