What is a Charging Point Operator (CPO)?

A Charging Point Operator, commonly abbreviated as CPO, is the company or organization that owns or manages a charging station. This entity is responsible for maintaining the station, setting prices, and ensuring everything functions correctly.

EasyPark collaborates with a wide range of CPOs to make their charging stations accessible directly through the app.

What does a CPO do?

The Charging Point Operator is responsible for:

  • Setting the Charging Fees: Determining the price (e.g., per kWh or per minute).

  • Technical Operations: Managing the physical upkeep and hardware of the station.

  • Availability: Deciding if a station is public or private.

  • Technical Support: Providing assistance if the hardware malfunctions.

Why is this important to know?

Because EasyPark does not own the charging stations:

  • Pricing Control: We do not have control over the rates set by the operator.

  • Hardware Control: We cannot remotely fix or control how the station operates.

  • Contact Information: We do not always have the CPO's direct internal contact details.

Pro-Tip: If you encounter a technical problem with the charging station itself, it is best to contact the CPO directly. Their contact information is usually printed on a sticker or screen on the physical charging station.
