- Why did I receive a parking fine?
Common reasons for receiving a parking fine
A parking fine can be issued for several reasons. Check if any of the following situations apply to you:
✔ No parking session started
You must always start a parking session via the EasyPark app unless you have a valid permit.
✔ Incorrect zone number entered
Parking zones vary by location. Always check if the zone number you entered matches the one on the signs near your car.
✔ Incorrect license plate selected
Your fine may have been issued because your parking session was registered under a different license plate than your actual vehicle. Check if you selected the correct license plate when starting the session.
✔ Parking outside permitted hours
Some zones have restrictions, such as only allowing parking at specific times or prohibiting parking on certain days.
✔ Exceeded maximum parking duration
Some zones have a maximum parking time. If you exceed this limit, you may receive a fine.
✔ Parking in a reserved space without a permit
If you park in a space reserved for permit holders or specific vehicles (such as disabled parking spaces), you may be fined.
✔ Unsuccessful payment
If there was an issue with your payment (for example, a declined credit card or failed direct debit), your parking session may not have been properly registered.
✔ Parking at a location that does not support EasyPark
Not all parking areas and garages support EasyPark. Check in the app if EasyPark is valid at your location.
How do I check why my fine was issued?
You can follow a few steps to determine what happened:
1. Check your parking session in the EasyPark app
Open the EasyPark app and review your recent parking sessions.
Check if you had an active parking session at the time the fine was issued.
Verify if the correct license plate and zone number were used.
2. Review the information on the fine itself
The reason for the fine is usually stated on the ticket.
The issuing authority (municipality or parking operator) is also mentioned.
3. Still unsure? Contact the issuing authority
The contact details of the issuing authority are usually found on the back or bottom of the fine.
EasyPark can help you verify if your parking session was correctly registered but cannot cancel the fine.
Can I dispute the fine?
If you believe the fine was issued incorrectly, you can file a dispute with the issuing authority.
