How much does it cost to charge an electric car?
Charging prices for electric cars in Norway vary based on location, the policy of the charging operator, and the time it takes to charge. For example, charging at a public station in urban areas can cost from 1.50 to 2.50 NOK per kWh for regular charging. Fast-charging stations, however, may have higher prices due to convenience and faster charging times, ranging from 4 to 8 NOK per kWh.
Some charging station operators also offer various subscriptions or memberships where a fixed monthly fee provides access to lower prices per kWh. Using apps like EasyPark, you can compare charging costs at different locations, making it easier for you to plan your charging efficiently and control your expenses. These prices are indicative, and it’s always recommended to check the current prices for the specific charging station before charging.
How long does it take to charge an electric car?
The charging time for an electric car can vary significantly depending on the car's battery size and the charging station's power. With a standard household charger (3 kW), it can take between 6 to 12 hours for an average electric car battery to fully charge, making it a good option for overnight charging. A public charging station at 7 to 22 kW can reduce that time to 3-4 hours, which is perfect for charging during work hours or while shopping.
Fast charging with EasyPark
For even faster charging, there are fast charging stations (50 kW and above), which can charge up to 80% of the battery in as little as 20 to 30 minutes. But it's important to note that the fastest charging stations (150 kW or higher) can charge your battery even faster, sometimes within 15 minutes, although availability and compatibility with your car may limit these options. By understanding these timeframes, you as an electric car owner can better plan your charging needs and trips.
